Update

hello everyone it’s great to be writing to you. i feel great with my recovery and it’s going very well. my days are quiet full but i work on getting better every day. i have doctor check ups often and i’ve had so many needle pricks in the past few months, that all the veins in my arms are dead. i do a lot of physical therapy because my legs have gotten very numb from my knees down. i’m only now starting to be able to get up and walk on my own, but it’s still very painful. i also have one on one therapy which i love, then i top that off with AA a few times a week. i try to save my weekends for all of my business meetings. the progress may seem slow to some people but i’m getting better all the time and i love being sober. there’s lots of writing going on as well and i have a few exciting things for a new record already. i can’t wait to get back out there and see you all again.

Sounds pretty busy, Deryck! Don’t forget to take time out to do the things you enjoy. I’m so glad to hear that you’re beginning to walk on your own again. Be sure to take things slowly, and take it one step at a time, one day at a time.

It also makes me happy to know that you are recovering and living a sober life. Don’t be afraid to ask for help from the many people who have experienced what you are going through. We’re all proud of you, and we know you will get through this!

Your music made me stronger, and it kept me going when I wanted to give up in middle school. I am now in my final year of university and will receive an engineering degree at the end of this year. I’m not sure whether I’d even be here if I hadn’t come across All Killer No Filler almost twelve years ago. I am certain your music had helped countless others as well. I hope these words will perhaps help you continue your journey in the same way that your music encouraged me to continue mine. Thank you for everything that you do.

Wishing you all the best in your continuing recovery. Much love from Calgary, xoxo

  2. I am still getting familiar with all of your work. It should be interesting to see the direction you go now that you are sober. Maybe you can sing about kittens, rainbows and unicorns now. Lmao just kidding. Whatever you create I am sure will be amazing and filled with raw feeling like much of what I have heard so far. Namaste.

    • An observation…i have been watching this blog and find it fascinating how many people posted when they first heard the news and how many trackbacks there were and now when looking at each update there are less and less posts and less trackbacks. Media in general are fucking vultures. They circle and swoop to report your lowest point but god forbid you actually recover because that shit is boring to the masses. They want to see celebrities broken and falling apart. It sells after all. And if there weren’t people eating that shit up, there wouldn’t be a market for it. *rant over*

It’s awesome to hear that you’re doing better Deryck. When I first heard what had happened not gonna lie it crushed me. You’re very much an idol to me. Your devotion to music and who you are. You’re an awesome fucking dude, and to see you so low like that was heartbreaking. But it’s great to hear how you’re doing and hope to hear more from you in the coming months. You have my support and the support from each and every one of your fans. Here’s hoping to see you in Calgary eventually!

Hey there. I was just wondering if the liver docs at usc were treating you? I was at USC back in December 2012 for a month because my liver was I. It’s was out and my kidneys shut down. I was a day away from dialasis. My doctors can’t figure out what happend to my organs cause I was never really a drinker nor a drug user. They say I’m a miracle and never had a case like mine. My experience at USC was amazing. I get ehaephalopgy a lot and dont remember anything. I’m currently on the transplant list so it’s just a waiting gain. But my liver bloodworm has bee so good they just don’t understand. I had gastric bypass in 2004 and they are contributing it to that. Called NASH. I read your story and saw your pics and it was me allll over again. Hang in there. You can only get better. I keep up on your updates. Can’t wait for some new music too. If you ever wanna talk about your experience with all this, I. Can relate 100%. I feel for you. I thought it would never get better. You are looking amazing. Just watch that salt! I’m sure they told you that. I’ve found out that salt is my weakness and it’s hard to find foods with low salt. Did you have to get parasentisis where they pump the fluid from your abdomen ? I had about 30 of those and depended on walking with a walker when I was able to walk again. Just hang in there and listen to your doctors. I think about you dote even tho I don’t know you. I just had never known of anyone my age to have the same thing happen to them. Take care. And I’m always here if you need any advice or anything Andrea
